Seville is known for its rich cultural heritage and offers a good selection of annual festivals and celebrations, many of which take place in and around the city centre.

Popular festivals in Seville include the following events.

Annual Seville Festivals


  • January: Certamen Internacional de Guitarra Clasica Andres Segovia, a notable classical guitar events which is held at the beginning of the month each year
  • February: Los Carnavales, with colourful carnival parades around central Seville
  • March: Cristo de la Expiracion, an exciting fiesta which takes place on the Friday just over one week before Palm Sunday
  • May: Festival Internacional de Teatro y Danza, with a range of theatrical performances and events held at the Teatro de la Maestranza
  • June: Dia de San Juan, known for its large bonfires and spectacular fireworks displays, with many similar events held throughout Spain at this time of the year
  • August: Fiesta de la Exaltacion del Rio Guadalquivir, with horse racing along the Sanlucar de Barrameda beaches, taking place during the third week of the month
  • September to November: Sevilla en Ontono, a popular Seville festival featuring music, dance and sport
  • October: Fiesta del Vino, held in the nearby village of Cadiar, close to Seville, where each year the fountain in filled with wine
